Jennifer Nelson RP®
I am a skilled financial and client services professional with over 15 years of experience. I started my career at Appropriate Balance in 2000 as the receptionist, quickly moved into the client services area and eventually took on the lead role in this department.
Currently, I am a paraplanner collaborating with advisors and helping clients identify the goals that are important to them and developing a plan to achieve them. My role includes gathering personal information, researching, and modeling options that will help clients make good decisions toward meeting their goals and objectives. I love working with clients, learning about their families and hearing their stories. I hold a Registered Paraplanner® designation from the College of Financial Planning.
Prior to Appropriate Balance I was a program assistant in the Department of Psychosocial Services at Seattle Children’s Hospital. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Medical Anthropology with honors from the University of Washington. I have always enjoyed Anthropology and Medicine and found a program that married the two.
Medical anthropology studies how health and illness are shaped, experienced, and understood in light of global, historical and political forces. This has given me an interesting perspective on various market sectors and emerging markets, as well as objectivity on how social and cultural differences affect our financial outlook and choices.
I live in the beautiful city of Kirkland with my two children. We enjoy boating, trips to Lake Chelan, the Seahawks and spending time with our family and friends.
