When I founded Appropriate Balance over 30 years ago, it was because I believed that managing money for a fee is superior to the brokerage model because it eliminates the commission motive, and puts advisors on the same side of the table as their clients. I still believe that, as does everyone in our firm.
I am passionate about helping people build and maintain their wealth, so that they can spend their time on family, their own interests, and philanthropy.
I was on the faculty of the American Association of Senior Physicians for twelve years, speaking at all of their national conferences around the country about risk management and the financial changes coincident with retirement.
I began my career in the investment business over 35 years ago, and earned my Certified Financial Manager designation from the Donald T. Regan School of Advanced Financial Management less than three years later. Prior to that, I studied business at Brigham Young University.
When not working, I love SCUBA diving and underwater photography (www.UnderwaterReflections.com). I’ve been fortunate enough to have photos win awards and be published around the world (one is even in the Smithsonian). I donate all profits to the International Children’s Surgical Foundation (www.icsfoundation.org), which does wonderful work with unfortunate children. With the help of my photography, Appropriate Balance and I have been able to raise/donate over $20,000 to ICSF, and prior to that, over $12,000 to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation (www.pkdcure.org (http://www NULL.pkdcure NULL.org)).
